Gabe Aguilar is a Software Engineer based in the San Francisco Bay Area with a passion for finding creative solutions and design patterns for software applications. He graduated from University of Guam in Fall 2018 with a Bachelor’s in Computer Science and has since been working at Visa building the next generation of card payment infrastructure. Gabe is an incoming software engineer for Etsy in New York City and will be working as part of the Search Optimization team.
Software engineering as a career
Being a software engineer has its perks in the modern world given the value placed upon the skillset of designing and building software. But what does an engineer even do on a day-to-day basis? In this presentation, Gabe will share his experiences so far in his early career as an engineer, the problems they tackle on a day-to-day basis, and what inspired him to pursue this field as well as the steps he took to jumpstart his career.
